National Forest, Reserve and the Jarí Channel

Three days crossing all three rivers: Tapajós, Arapiuns and Amazon. The communities of Jamaraquá, Maripá and Urucureá, and the Jarí floodplain where the wildlife concentrates.

Duration
3 days, 2 nights
Departure
09:00
Vessel
up to 7 people

The most complete three-day route. It starts in the National Forest with a primary forest trail and the latex workshop in Jamaraquá, where you learn the traditional rubber tapping technique. Overnight in the community lodge. Day two crosses the Tapajós to Maripá, in the Arapiuns Reserve, for canoeing through flooded forest, then continues to Urucureá, where the women's association weaves baskets from tucumã palm leaves dyed with pigment drawn from forest flowers and fruit. Day three is the Jarí Channel, the brown floodplain of the Amazon and the richest stretch for wildlife on the whole route: iguanas, caiman, river dolphins, monkeys, sloths and thousands of parakeets.
